Dr Daeve,

how do you rate the version of Showing Off on Wierd Shit?

I'm more or less with you on the validity of Bagpipe Music, which i have
only ever owned on cassette. Its a good record, and it would sell if it
was out on cd now. Its a bit confusing that the track Bagpipe Music
appeared on Bop Art, one of the better tracks in fact. Along with Chelsea
Wallpaper, Built in a Day, Control of Embassies, just wonderful all of
them. There is a line or two about art standing in place of destruction,
determination in the place of fear ... that kind of sums up the propaganda
war we are still in the middle of today ... artists creating hope,
imagination, debate and then you turn on the TV news and the other
"official" version of the world comes crashing in .. Only two things let
the album down, one is Steve Bush's poem and delivery on Pinkies, and the
awful recording of Gunning the Works, which was done much better later, on
Friendloverplane 1.
