I have been keeping an eye out for the Art Objects album for a while, as I have for Rodney's Happysad, but have been out of luck on both so far.

Considering they can't get a re-release of Beatsongs sorted out, what chance the Art Objects?  I'm sure if there were any money around to finance anything, then it would go on the new album, and rightly so.

Caroline Trettine has actually had a couple of albums out.  See http://www.carolinetrettine.com/index.html

However, it seems that albums are few and far between! You can listen to sample tracks from here.  She's evidently played several gigs with Ian Kearey over the last few years.

Seconded - the Art Objects album is excellent, easily better than the first proper Aeros album, and I'd even venture to say stands comparison with their best.
I have on vinyl and the production is fab - really deep and chunky bass. A CD release would be good, as long as they don't fuck up the transfer.

So PV2, I see you've found time in your busy ironing schedule to post to this list. Ha ha haaa!

A wee while ago Ann Sheldon was flogging copies of said 7" single (a repressing of course) at BA gigs.  I'm sure she must still have stocks if anyone's interested.  I bought a copy myself, and I think it's quite fab.  "Angry" and "pop" are certainly words that spring to mind.
I do think it's a damn shame that the Art Objects material has been left to drift and it's something I keep trying to persuade Gerard about.  I mention the possibility of a CD release every time I meet him (which isn't often) and last time he seemed more reconciled to the idea, so I choose to take that as progress!
Speaking of damn shames, how do people like Caroline Trettine get a record out?  Would she do well to contact the Art Stars label?!

The original 7" of this song was backed by a great track, "Fit of Pique\Bibliotheque" which definitely does have the savage guitar frenzy. yes there are elements of the Art Objects sound which pre-date the Aeroplanes, but Gerard was keen to move on from that band into more experimental territory. Musically, the sound of the Art Objects owed a lot to the Key brothers and is quite "pop". Certainly alot of the words are "angry young man" and a bit blunt, compared to the more literary vibe of Bop Art and the Action Painting EP.
I demoed a song with brief early Aeros member Caroline Trettine (aka Halcrow) in 2001 called Western Stars, in which the lyrics talk about the whole music scene in Bristol when said club was one of the key places. The lyrics mention John (Langley) and Ann (Gerard's partner). Its a good track, among 10 or so that i recorded with her about a year after Ten Light Years.   Caroline is currently without a deal so the material is not available,  i wish she would self publish!
