Sounds like you left just before they took off!! Must be a bit like leaving a footy match 5 mins from the end with your team losing 2-0 only to find when you get home that they won 3-2.

I was at that gig. Apart from the snappy hat, I remember everything in the opposite. I remember horribly mixed sound, the band playing off the beat, and the backup singers not on key. They were kinda sloppy. I also remember nearly getting into a ruck with some bonehead whose idea was 'dancing' by swinging his fists into the crowd. Save it, sonny. I got disgusted and left before they
were through.

One of my favourite gigs was at the Mean Fiddler in about 96. Gerard
waltzed on wearing a Beatles '65 style hat with "Gerard" written on it
in sparkly letters which he'd re-arranged to spell "Regard". Fantastic!
After a laid back, slightly experimental first half which included 2
female backing singers who I'd never seen before or since, they really
kicked into life in the 2nd half of the show and just seemed to take
off. After leaving the crowd baying for more for about 5 minutes, they
came back on with Dennis Pennis singing lead vocals on a cover of EMI
by the Sex Pistols! Anyone remember this or did I dream it?
