Is he going to drop the drinks prices at all? I've been there a few times (including once to see a couple of other ex-Planes, Hazel Winter and Ruth Cochrane) and you need a second mortgage if you want to get hammered. Its a bit the wrong shape and size for live acts (you almost have to push past whoever is performing if you want to get to the loos) but it does have a really nice atmosphere and some comfy seating. I'd certainly go there again, but unfortunately I'm busy on Thursday.

It used to, and may still be a members club, but you could usually sign in for the night and pay a temporary membership, an admission fee in all but name. I guess it was something to do with the licence. I think my girlfriend has a complimentary membership as she's performed there (poetry) a couple of times herself.

I remember chatting to a couple of hell's angels in there one night, but that's another story.....

I've just found out that Max Noble, the long time guitarist with the Aeroplanes has taken over the running of a club in the centre of Bristol, its on a bueatifully converted 100ft Duch Barge that is permanently moored on Welsh Back just below the "Spy Glass" and opposite what used to be The legendary "Granary". The Bar is called Il Bordello and this thursday will host fellow Blue Aeroplane Gerard Starkie performing a solo acoustic set, I think he is on at about 10pm, don't know if its free or not
