Hi Howard,

Glad you liked the story! Unfortunately I don't have
his number, I don't think we took a note of it anyway
which is probably just as well in case we pestered him
with nuisance calls wanting a new album! It was a long
time ago anyway so he may have changed number by now.
Apart from myself and a couple of my brothers I'm not
aware of any fans in this part of the world so I'm not
sure there would be a demand for the Aeroplanes up
here but if they were to play mainland Scotland I
would definitely make sure I was there! I'd never been
to any gigs off this island until last year when I was
lucky enough to see the Rolling Stones in Glasgow and
the Flaming Lips in Glasgow and Edinburgh. I've been a
fan of the Stones for years and they were great but
the Lips really blew me away, intimate venues, great
atmosphere and really inspired music. I'd love to see
the Aeroplanes in similar surroundings! It seems they
only really play the odd local gig these days. I think
getting into the Aeroplanes was the beginning of my
musical education, they made me aware that there were
many bands out there not in the mainstream that were
not getting the recognition they deserved. I still
listen to the Aeroplanes albums regularly along with
the likes of Sigur Ros, Talk Talk, Brian Eno, Morphine
and also more mainstream stuff like R.E.M.,the Stones,
Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin etc. I'm also a big fan of
Inspector Morse and can easily picture Gerard watching
it with a large malt whisky beside him!
