Kate,

When did I say that I was English? Colorado born and bred.

You're right, there are good ones, in fact great ones. My statement was
intended to single out the music that our radio stations play, typically,
at
least where I live. I wasn't trying to pick a fight, I thought this was a
discussion group, and I think faster than I type, so it can come across as
feisty.

Which American bands would you consider to be worthy of the highest
musical
praise?

My short list would include The Judybats, The Handsome Family, Giant
Sand/Calexico, American Music Club, Lambchop, Uncle Tupelo, Yo La Tengo,
and
of course, Tom Waits (if he is considered a 'band').

Sorry for the unintentional attitude.

-Rich
