Chris managed to wrap his lead round the pillar on stage in Glasgow on
Sunday. Rather than keeping running and wrapping the lead (and himself)
round the pillar he sensibly unwound it.

However the idea of an Aeroplanes cartoon was planted! Every episode could
finish with some form of guitarist mishap - Chris and his post (Glasgow),
Bec getting tripped whilst hopping (nearly in Glasgow), Mike ending up in
splints and plasters after a death defying stage leap (probably every
night), Gerard S and Mike getting tangled in leads and ending up on the
drum
kit (nearly Edinburgh) and Wojtek spinning and knocking everyone over.

The general plot? The trials and tribulations of getting to gigs maybe?
Perhaps in one they could stop to give a lift to the broken down Scouser
support act - who nicks the van instead! Kidding ...

Ahem - more seriously, more a report on than a review of the Scottish
weekend here:

https://manicpopthrills.wordpress.com/2017/01/17/pointless-request-hour-the-
blue-aeroplanes-live/

There's links in the piece to photo sets from both nights. Which are
unusually decent. By my camera's standards at least.

Just about to start typing up a short interview that I did with Gerard L on
Sunday - thanks to the good offices of Chris.

I think if the Aeros went wireless it would be as big a loss to the live
experience as if Wojtek wasn?t there The closing stages of any Fleece gig
are carnage with wires , plugs , guitars , band members all over the place
and Gerrard?s frankly useless filing system coming undone again. Last Dec
Wojtek ended up with the setlist gaffa taped to his shoe and Mike played a
third of Breaking without his guitar plugged in

Excellent gig in Nottingham last night - an initially tepid audience
eventually won over by sheer enthusiasm and a great performance. The high
stage didn't help much but Mike still managed to leap off it and play in
the
audience during the first encore!

The new album was played in full again - utter classic. It's already in my
top two Aeros albums. ;-)

Having seen this line up play several times now, I think that Mike, Bec and
Gerard S are right up there with the best guitarists the band have ever
had:
'...And Stones' last night was blistering.

I'd like to see Mike get more of a full vocal spot now and again - I know
he
has the voice!

Finally, Chris - don't ever go wireless - your lead mishaps during
'Breaking' last night were priceless! And you nailed 'Fun' - again!

John

Absolutely agree... Edinburgh gig had tripping hazard written all over it
and gloriously so. Half way through breaking in my heart, Gerard had two
guitar cables wrapped around his foot and the guitarists were trying to
extricate their tuning pegs from one anothers leads. Wojtek provided a
useful mobile chicane for all and the place felt like it was going nuts.
This does not happen often enough in the modern era!

I?m coming but by train. ?The trains run back very late to Liverpool Street
so that?s always an option if there?s no offer of a lift. Cheers, NW
