Thanks, gents.

Paul's Guinness Book of Hit Singles is the clincher for me.

I just wasn't sure if the Official Charts site was all the official "Top of
the Pops" charts regardless of chart provider or whether it was all the
charts done by the company which does the job as there were competing
charts
in the 80s/90s.

As usual, it's the memory at fault then!

BTW the Official Charts site does list The Loved at 91 (with a bullet ...)

Been trying to track down a chart position for 'Boy In The Bubble' for a
piece I'm doing.

Has anyone got a definite chart position for the single? My recollection
was
that it made the top 40 whilst the booklet with the Beatsongs reissue says
it made "the Top 50".

Yet the Official Charts website has no chart position for any post Loved
E.P. singles.

I was wondering if a change in chart provider circa 1992 may account for
this. Although more likely it's just my memory!

Any thoughts?

I don't think it charted in the UK. Even the original Paul Simon single of
this song only got to no.26 in 1987.

The Official Charts record all singles in the Top 100 - so if it isn't
there
it almost definitely wasn't Top 40 or Top 50.

Thanks Matthew

I always thought it was their highest charting single. Maybe I'm getting it
mixed up with the dancey '...& stones' (I never liked either of them as
choices as singles...) - I know that they never made the top 40 with any of
their singles, though...

According to the old Guinness Book of British Hit Singles (a copy of which
was within arms length) the only two UK chart hits that the Aeroplanes ever
had were Jacket Hangs and ...And Stones, which got to number 72 and 63 in
the charts respectively, both in the first half of 1990.
