RE: Cavaliers, new stuff, whisky etc

I haven't heard Record Player, could anyone tell me how to get hold of a
copy and what the track list is?

I have collected all the other albums including the compilation ones, Huh,
Warhol's 15 and the live, Fruit but, like many, my favourites are still
Swagger and Beatsongs. As far as Cavaliers is concerned, it was just good
to
have a new release at the time and although parts of are quite odd, I think
the whole thing is passable.

I have only seen the band live once, at Manchester University in January
2000, and would love to see them again if I ever get the chance.

As far as whisky is concerned, I too am an Islay addict with Bowmore being
a
particular favourite.

Philip the Fifth spake:
>So hurrah for Cavaliers and Record Player!
Ah, now don't get me wrong. I didn't think that Cavaliers was too bad,
although I found it the least consistent of their albums since Bop Art. I
didn't take it as a sign of inevitable terminal decline, but as something
less than near-perfect, produced under restricted circumstances, and
without
enough time to tune their guitars properly. That said: 1) it's a bit
disconcerting when Gerard's voice sounds like Roger Waters' (eg Cavaliers
pts 1 and 3), and 2) there's unpardonable banjo in part 2!

So, I'm definitely keen to hear the new stuff, and I suspect it will
probably be rather good. Apart from Rodney's songs, of which I have
considerably lower expectations.

>This year, by the way, it's Jura single malt.
Verily, by this token shall ye all distinguish that Philip from this:
mine's
Lagavulin, preferably the double-distilled stuff.

Phil the Sixth (perhaps)
